NEW FOR FEBRUARY 2010!!
This month we spotlight a series from Scholastic called "Just For You!". These are simple stories about every day life featuring endearing illustrations of African American families. The themes are fun and familliar with titles like "Mommy's Bed", "Sunday Best", and "Hurry Up". This collection will quickly become a bedtime favorite! Look for these engaging books in the ages 5-8 section of our store.
Also this month we have some exciting new titles that are perfect for celebrating Black History. Check out "I am Michelle Obama: The First Lady" and "Gifted Hands, Kids Edition: The Ben Carson Story" for a refreshing look at Black History in the making.
Celebrate Your Brown Baby! -- Those big sparkling brown eyes. That wild head full of hair. The oh-so-soft skin in rich caramel, cocoa and coffee tones. A grin that can melt your heart. And a stubborn streak that drives you nuts. Our children are beautiful in so many ways and we want to celebrate them all! Email us a photo and tell us about your special brown baby. We'll continuously feature a different little one on our home page.
Meet Our Featured Brown Babies! -- Oscar Brown Jr. (1926-2005)
This month we have not one, but two beautiful brown babies to share! Meet Janae and Janelle, twins from Virginia. These lovely ladies enjoy playing "tickle" with Daddy and they go crazy for ice cream. Janae's favorite book is Sweet, Sweet Baby! by Javaka Steptoe, while Janelle's favorite book is Goodnight Moon
by Margaret Wise Brown. We are grateful to Janae and Janelle's parents for sharing their beautiful brown babies with us.
